Good:

Dropped off the Miata’s hardtop in a deal; a body shop guy that I’m good friends with is going to create a negative (a mold) of it for his LeMons race car Miata (he’s going for a ‘72 Stringray coupe look, minus t-tops). In return, he’s going to refurbish mine and repaint it in any color I want (going with black so I can vinyl the windshield frame black for a bitchin’ two-tone look).

Drove home with the top down in cold weather with the heat cranked up and wearing thick clothes, felt awesome.

Dentist appointment yielded no issues with my teeth.

Bad:

Cancelled the 3-day Mountain Trip I planned for Fall Break to Tail of the Dragon because of scheduling conflict with my girlfriend who’s coming along for the trip. She forgot she has to be somewhere on the third day. It basically threw a monkey wrench into the gears so it’s all fallen apart. Instead, it’ll just be me and her on a 1-day trip.

58% midterm grade in a class where the only other grades are two 30% quiz scores. FML.

Forgot my parking permit on the hardtop’s glass, had to get a temp permit but I’m still worried they’ll tow my car somehow.

Did you know there is a Maserati Biturbo collector in Lexington? I found part of the collection today!

It was about 40 degrees Fahrenheit while I was wearing 2 shirts (1 long with long sleeves) over a heavy insulated leather coat, thick sweatpants, and a scarf. That said, the Miata’s infamously-high operating engine temperatures mean it blows volcanic gusts from the vents to keep my hands and feet warm.

Porque? I mean Maserati’s are cool but I guess he needs to collect them in order to build and maintain one or two in running condition!

that’s pretty cold. I do it frequently in my MR2 as long as its dry cold.

Though honestly hot summer nights is the best.

No clue, his employee that I talked to didn’t know either, he just knew he got paid to get them in order. He has one for sale that is mint, so mint the AC even works. He also has the 1UZ powered one that made it’s rounds on Jalopponik NPOCP. Currently they are restoring a 12k mile original one. I just thought it was cool that someone actually had a thing for them, since I had no clue there were any that had not rusted away, much less 5 that had not. I’ve noticed people around here have a knack for shitty cars. There is a Geo/Small shitbox collection in Leesville.

I rocked the JPanzer hard in WoT, even with the nerf’d 8.8cm. It lead to great JPanther shenanigans and my first Mark of Excellence ever.

In my pre-Miata days I owned one of its spiritual ancestors, a 1976 Triumph Spitfire. I was late for class on a fine February day in Boulder with no time to put the top up. It had been unseasonably warm the day before and having the top down had been a blast. Now a light snow was falling and the temperature was in the mid-20s. As I accelerated down the entrance ramp onto US-36 for a quick trip to campus I noticed a hitchhiker standing on the shoulder looking for a ride into town. Because of the marginal weather I started to slow down to pick him up. Seeing this, he lowered his sign and waved me by shaking his head in a big ‘no’. I guess riding with the top down in the cold weather is an acquired taste. It also works pretty well for keeping you alert after one to many glasses of beer but that’s another story.
